The title refers to a statement made by American composer and artist John Cage suggesting that music is all around us if we stop and listen. In this film and sound piece by Kate Daudy with Alice Wade, world-renowned cellist Steven Isserlis performs alongside soprano Joanna Bergin for a flock of sheep. Isserlis adapted John Tavener’s piece, The Lamb specially for this production.
The Lamb is a particular favourite of Daudy’s and connects with her and Novoselov’s new intervention in YSP’s Country Park using numbers sprayed onto sheep. Titled ALTERNATIVE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR: THE SHEEP OF MR. CHARLES PLATTS, the work is a series of writings on the flock of sheep, which have each been painted with an individual number in order to create random numbers. The sheep create their own chaotic number formations as they wander around the Park.
